The Starting Drummer VOL. 1
The Starting Drummer Volume 1 begins with a selection of rudiments and
sticking patterns that will allow you to develope a solid understanding of hand technique. Using the Single Stroke Roll, Double Stroke Roll, Paradiddles, and Flam exercises, your hands will have a proper grip, and relaxed wrist motion. The second section introduces note values and rests. Here you will learn how to recognize rhythms and how they are counted. Also included are short solos for snare drum, based on each note value in the current lesson. Interpretation of these rhythms around the drums set will be encouraged throughout both books. In the last section we'll play a variety of drum set grooves, and beats. Each groove will be played in context with fills, and applied to learning songs by your favorite artists! All lessons are presented in a thorough, and logical way, for a strong foundation and understanding of the art of drumming! |
The Starting Drummer VOL. 2
The Starting Drummer Volume 2 picks up where Volume 1 leaves off. The first
section presents rudiments that are more advanced. Measured rolls, and combinations are studied for a higher level of technique. Also in this section we have dynamics, and accent patterns used to develope a more musical approach to the instrument. In Vol. 2 we don't introduce new note values. Instead we use longer snare drum solos designed to challenge, and strengthen your ability to read music. The final section is a large vocabulary of drum set grooves and fills. Double bass drumming is also included, and will apply advanced foot techniques. Both books are designed to be fun, and inspiring, with an emphasis on developing fundamentals for a more creative experience on the drums set! |
